On MLK day, Gavin and I spent the day snowboarding at Winter Park. Thanks for the day off Reverend King! It was snowing hard all day, and Berthoud Pass was closed so we couldn’t get home. We had to spend the night and enjoy the fresh powder the next day. Even after the second day, the pass was still closed for avalanche control work. We had to drive about 100 miles out of our way to get home, but it was well worth it. In a sad, related story, we found out later why the pass was closed for so long. They couldn’t start avalanche control because search parties were up there looking for this missing snowboarder in the back country.
